Saururaceae is a plant family comprising four genera and seven species ofherbaceousflowering plants native to eastern and southernAsia andNorth America. The family has been recognised by most taxonomists, and is sometimes known as the "lizard's-tail family". TheAPG IV system (2016; unchanged from the 2009APG III system, the 2003APG II system and the 1998APG system) assigned it to the orderPiperales in the clademagnoliids.[3][4][2]
