Sauro Bufalini (28 April 1941 – 1 April 2012)[1] was an Italian professionalbasketball player andcoach. He was inducted into theItalian Basketball Hall of Fame, in 2011.
As a member ofVarese, Bufalini won the championship of the1966 edition of theFIBA Intercontinental Cup. Bufalini was also a member of theFIBA European Selection Teams, in 1965.
Bufalini was also a of the senior men'sItalian national team. With Italy, he competed at the1964 Tokyo Summer Olympic Games, where Italy finished in fifth place, and at the1968 Mexico City Summer Olympic Games, where Italy finished in eighth place, respectively.[2]
He also represented Italy at the following tournaments: the1963 Mediterranean Games, the1963 FIBA EuroBasket, the1965 FIBA EuroBasket, the1967 FIBA World Cup, the1967 Mediterranean Games, and the1967 FIBA EuroBasket.
Before he ended his playing career, Bufalini also worked as abasketball coach. He was theplayer-coach of the Italian club Pallacanestro Livorno, from 1975 to 1977.
