Satish Chandra Kaushik (13 April 1956 – 9 March 2023) was an Indian actor, director, producer,comedian , editor andscreenwriter . He found fame inBollywood withMr. India Anil Kapoor ,Sridevi , andAmrish Puri , where he played the iconic character of a cook named Calendar. He later directed films such asTere Naam .
Kaushik was born inKarol Bagh , Delhi on 13 April 1956 into a Gaur Brahmin family.[ 1] Kirori Mal College ,Delhi University in 1972.[ 2] National School of Drama andFilm and Television Institute of India .[ 3]
As a film actor, he was noted for his roles as "Calendar" inMr. India [ 4] Deewana Mastana Brick Lane Filmfare Best Comedian Award twice: in 1990 forRam Lakhan Saajan Chale Sasural .[ 5]
As a theatre actor, his most noted role was that of "Willy Loman " in the Hindi-language play,Salesman Ramlal, an adaptation ofArthur Miller 'sDeath of a Salesman [ 6] Kundan Shah 's comedy classicJaane Bhi Do Yaaron [ 7] Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja Prem (1995), which was supposed to beTabu 's debut film. He co-wrote and anchored a TV countdown show,Top Ten , for which he won the Screen Videocon Award.[ 9] Arjun Rampal ,Amisha Patel , andZayed Khan inVaada [ 10] Anupam Kher , who had been his classmate atNSD , launched a new film company called Karol Bagh Productions.[ 11] Teree Sang ,[ 12] Ruslaan Mumtaz andSheena Shahabadi , the film explores of teen pregnancy.[ 13]
His next work was to be based on the life ofTansen , in which the role of Tansen was to be played byAbhishek Bachchan , and the soundtrack was to be composed byRavindra Jain ; the script for the film remains unfinished.[ 14] Haryana 's film industry, and was committed to making several films there.[ 15]
