
Satala (Ancient Greek:Σάταλα) orSatala in Lydia was aRoman era city[1][2] andBishopric[3] inancient Lydia.
Its site is located nearAdala inAsiatic Turkey.[4][5]
The city worshiped the typicalmother and son pantheon found throughoutAnatolia, and although a temple was built it did not mint coint as the town was only a village. It was part of adecapolis called the Katakekaumene, and May have been its religious center.
The city was also asee in the province ofLydia, and remains a vacant andtitular see to this day.[6] It is in the province ofSardis.
Known Bishops
Today Satala Lidia survives as titular bishop of theRoman Catholic Church but the seat is vacant since 22 October 1819 .
