Sarubhakta (Nepali:सरुभक्त) is thepen name ofBhakta Raj Shrestha, a celebratedNepalese playwright, novelist, songwriter andpoet[1] and a winner ofMadan Puraskar, one of the most prestigious literary awards in Nepal.[2]

Biography

He was born to Ganesh Bahadur Shrestha and Laxmi Shrestha in Baghbazaar,Pokhara,Nepal on 12 manshir 2012BS.[3] He studied inGandaki Boarding School, Lainachaur bc. He completed his SLC level education from Rashtriya Secondary School (then Rashtriya Multiple School). He then received an IA degree fromAmrit Science College, Kathmandu. He received his Bachelor degree fromPrithvi Narayan Campus, Pokhra and received Master's degree fromTribhuvan University.[4] He started writing around 1978.[5]

Many consider his novelPagal Basti, to be aclassic inNepalese literature. He was also a member of theRoyal Nepal Academy and the Immediate Past Chancellor ofNepal Music and Drama Academy.[citation needed]
