Santa Cruz de Minas is a Brazilian municipality located in the state ofMinas Gerais. The city belongs to the mesoregion of Campo das Vertentes and to the microregion of Sao Joao del Rei. It is the smallest municipality of Brazil, measuring only 2.9 square kilometres (1.1 sq mi).
According toIBGE (2017), the municipality belongs to theImmediate Geographic Region of São João del-Rei, in theIntermediate Geographic Region of Barbacena.[3]
The municipality is part of theRoman Catholic Diocese of São João del-Rei.[4]
