San Marino, following its debut at the1960 Summer Olympics, has competed in 16Summer Olympics, and 11Winter Olympics.

San Marino has won three medals at the Olympics, two inshooting and one in wrestling, with all three thus far coming atTokyo 2020. Its most successful athlete isAlessandra Perilli, who, having finished 4th in theWomen's Trap final atLondon 2012, went on to win two medals atTokyo 2020, first a bronze in theWomen's Trap and two days later, silver withGian Marco Berti in theMixed Trap Team final.[1]

With a population of 33,600, San Marino is, as of Paris 2024, the smallest country by population to have won an Olympic medal,[2] narrowly edging out previous smallest nationsBermuda (Summer Olympics) andLiechtenstein (Winter Olympics).
