Samuel Christopher Bastien Binda (born 26 September 1996) is a professionalfootballer who plays as amidfielder for Vietnamese clubCong An Ho Chi Minh City. Born in Belgium, he plays for theDR Congo national team.

Club career

Bastien emerged fromR.S.C. Anderlecht's youth system. He made his first team debut on 3 December 2014, in theBelgian Cup againstK.R.C. Mechelen, replacingYouri Tielemans after 79 minutes, in a 4–1 home win.[2]

On 31 August 2015, Bastien was loaned toAvellino.[3] He made his debut for theIrpinian team on 12 September 2015 againstModena, replacingMariano Arini after 53 minutes.[4]

On 26 August 2016, Bastien signed withSerie A sideA.C. ChievoVerona, who paid a €2.5 million transfer fee to Anderlecht.[5]

On 14 June 2018, Bastien signed withStandard Liège.[6]

On 5 July 2022, he joinedBurnley, newly relegated to theEFL Championship, on a three-year contract.[7]

On 15 September 2023, he signed forSüper Lig sideKasımpaşa on a season-long loan deal.[8]

On 21 May 2024, Burnley said the player would be returning once the loan ended.[9]

On 8 August 2024, Bastien moved toFortuna Sittard in the Netherlands.[10]

International career

Born in Belgium, Bastien is of Congolese descent. He was a youth international for Belgium.[11] However, he decided to representDR Congo national team. He debuted for his home country in a 2–02022 FIFA World Cup qualification win overMadagascar on 7 October 2021.[12]
