TheSamsung Galaxy A50 is anAndroidsmartphone manufactured bySamsung Electronics as part of its fifth-generationGalaxy A series lineup. It came withAndroid 9 Pie, 64 or 128 GB of internal storage, and a 4000 mAh battery.[1] It was launched internationally on February 25, 2019 and in the United States on July 13, 2019.[2]

The Galaxy A50 has a 6.4"FHD+ (2340 x 1080) 60 Hz Super AMOLEDInfinity-U display, with an 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by an Octa-core, 4x2.3 GHz ARM Cortex-A73 and 4x1.7 GHz ARM Cortex-A53, 64-bit, 10 nmCPU and a Mali-G72 MP3GPU. The phone itself measures 158.5 x 74.7 x 7.7mm. It comes with a 4000 mAh battery.[3]
The A50 is sold in 4GB/6GBRAM and 64GB/128GB internal storage configurations, both of which can be expanded via aMicroSD card up to 512GB.
The A50 has an optical (under-screen) fingerprint sensor and facial recognition features used for biometrics.
The Samsung Galaxy A50 comes with triple rear camera array consisting of a 25MP, f1.7, SonyExmor IMX576 wide camera, an 8MP f2.2 ultra-wide camera, and a 5MP f2.2 depth sensor camera.[4] It also comes with a 25MPfront-facing camera.[5]
While the hardware is capable of taking4K video, it is not accessible by normal means (or by using the included camera app). It can be accessed usingthird party apps.[6]
The Samsung Galaxy A50 ships withOne UI 1.1, based onAndroid 9.0 (Pie). A stable update toAndroid 10 andOne UI 2.0 was released at the beginning of April 2020. Features includeBixby,Google Assistant andSamsung Pay.[7] An update toOne UI 2.5 was released in December 2020.[8] An update toAndroid 11 withOne UI 3.1 was released in March 2021, the final OS update for the Galaxy A50. The last security update for the Galaxy A50 was provided in February 2023. Samsung stated that the phone will not be gettingAndroid 12One UI 4 and any further OS Updates.
The A50 received mostly positive reviews.PCWorld gave it 4/5 stars, praising the display, design and battery life while criticizing the in-screen fingerprint sensor and the camera processing.[9]Tom's Guide also gave it 4/5 stars, calling it "a budget phone with a big and colorful screen, solid performance and a sleek design" albeit with an "underwhelming battery life".[10]CNET gave it an 8.4/10, describing it as "one of the best budget phones",[11] andDigital Trends called it "the budget Samsung phone of your dreams".[12]
The A50 was Samsung's best-selling smartphone in 2019, the best-selling smartphone in Europe in 2019, and the third best-selling phone in the world for the third quarter of 2019.[13][14][15]
