Vinnakota Sameer (also known asSameer Hasan) is an Indian actor who predominantly appears inTelugu films and television.
Sameer Hasan was born inVisakhapatnam,Andhra Pradesh, to aMuslim father Intikhab Hasan and aBrahmin mother Mahalaxmi.[2] His father was absent during his childhood, and he was raised as a Hindu by his mother and maternal family.[3][4]
He has acted in many TV serials broadcast onDoordarshan. He played a supporting role inRuthu Ragalu. Sameer made his film debut inSubha Sankalpam (1995), directed byK. Viswanath.[2]
Sameer has stated that he identifies asHindu. He has worn theAyyappamala multiple times and regularly visits temples.[3] In 2020, he revealed he has adopted his mother's surname and legally changed his name from Sameer Hasan to Vinnakota Venkata Sameer to reflect his maternal heritage.[4]
He is married to Aparna and has a son. The couple won the finals ofMoguds Pellams, a TV program conducted byMAA TV for celebrity couples.[5]
