Samuel Wright Jr. (November 25, 1848 – May 6, 1928) was an American professionalbaseball player. He played inMajor League Baseball for a total of four seasons for theNew Haven Elm Citys (1875),Boston Red Caps (1876, 1881), andCincinnati Stars (1880).[1]
In 45games played, all as ashortstop, hebatted .168, had 29hits, fourdoubles, fiveRBIs, scored 10runs, and onebase on balls in 173at bats.[1] Two of his brothers also played in the majors:Baseball Hall of FamersHarry Wright andGeorge Wright.[1]
Wright was born in New York City toSamuel Wright Sr., a famouscricketer, and Sam's second wife, Ann Tone.[1][2] He died at the age of 79 inBoston,Massachusetts. He is interred at St. Patrick Cemetery inStoneham, Massachusetts.[1]
