Samuel Barrott (born 1992 or 1993)[1] is an English professionalfootball referee who has primarily officiated in thePremier League since 2024. He was promoted to the FIFA list of international referees in December 2024.

Early life

Barrott was born in Yorkshire in the early 1990s and played as a junior at Halifax F.C.

Refereeing career

Barrot started refereeing at the age of 15 after an injury playing forHalifax Town Youth team.[2] He is based inWest Riding.[3]

Barrott was promoted from the National list of officials to theEFL at the end of the 2019–2020 season.[2][4][5]

He was promotedSelect Group 2 at the start of the 2023–2024 season.[6] He refereed 15 Premier League matches during the season, with his debut coming on 7 October 2023 at Craven Cottage betweenFulham andSheffield United.[7][8]

Barrott refereed the2024 EFL League One play-off final betweenBolton Wanderers andOxford United.[9]

He was promoted to theSelect Group at the start of the2024–2025 season.[10]

Barrott was promoted to the FIFA list of international referees in December 2024, replacingCraig Pawson.[11][12]
