Sakalua is anislet ofNukufetau,Tuvalu.[1] In the 19th centurywhalers established a shore camp on Sakalua where coal was used to melt down the whale blubber.[2] The islet has been known as 'Coal Island'.[3]

The island has a large colony ofterns.
