Saigneville (French pronunciation:[sɛɲvil]) is acommune in theSommedepartment inHauts-de-France in northernFrance.
Prior to construction of theCanal de la Somme, Saigneville stood at the southern end of a ford across the Somme estuary. Known asBlanchetaque for the white stones marking the way, the ford became the site of theBattle of Blanchetaque in 1346, during theHundred Years' War.
Saigneville is situated 5 miles (8 km) northwest ofAbbeville, on the D3 road, near theSomme canal.
