TheSahafi Hotel inMogadishu,Somalia was attacked byal-Shabaabbombers and gunmen on 1 November 2015 and 9 November 2018.
At dawn on 1 November 2015, asuicidecar bombing occurred at the Sahafi Hotel in Mogadishu, Somalia, after which gunmen entered it.[1]First responders arrived and were targeted with two more bombs.[1] The attackers killed at least 15 people, includingAbdikarim Yusuf Adam, a formercommander of theSomali National Army, the owner of the hotel, afreelance journalist and a member ofparliament.[2][3][1]Jihadist group al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack.[1]
On 9 November 2018, a triple car bombing occurred outside the Sahafi Hotel, killing 52 people, including the owner, who was the son of the owner who was killed in the 2015 attack.[4] About 100 others were injured.[4] Five attackers wearingpolice uniforms were shot dead bypolice as they tried to enter the hotel.[4] Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack.[4]
