Sabyasachi Mohapatra (born 27 August 1950 inLehedi, India) is an Indian film director, writer, and producer inOdia cinema.[1][2] He owns a production house namedMohapatra Movie Magic.[3]
Mohapatra made his directorial debut in filmBhukha inSambalpuri Language that won International Jury award at Gijon Film festival inSpain.[4]
His movieJai Jagannatha released in 2006, amythological film, was a mega-budget released in 15 differentIndian languages.[5]
After 25 years, director Sabyasachi Mohapatra is back withSala Budha in 2012. The film is based on a novel by renowned author Kapilesh Prasad Mohapatra (his father), the film was screened at theInternational Film Festival of inGoa,India in 2013 and the film won seven awards, including the best actor award, at theOdisha state film awards.[6][7]
He directed anotherSambalpuri language filmAadim Vichar released in 2014 and the film won62nd National Film Awards inBest Feature Film in Odia and also won Best director and Best actor award at26th Odisha State Film Awards.[8][9]
In 2015, he worked on his next project 'Pahada Ra Luha' and which earned him back-to-backNational Film Awards. The film wonBest Feature Film in Odia at63rd National Film Awards in 2015.[10][11][12]
