TheSabti (Arabic: بنو سبتي ) are aSomali clan belonging to the largerMurusade clan, which itself belongs to the largerKaranle branch of theHawiye clan.[1][2] The clan is reputed for having a lengthy and flourishing mercantile history that dates back through history. The Sabti primarily reside in the central regions ofSomalia, inGalgaduud andMudug, as well asBanaadir and theLower Shabelle in southernSomalia.[3][4][5][6][7]

The Sabti's original homeland was in northernSomalia, but a section of the clan migrated south around the 13th century and settled along the Banadir coast up to theShebelle River.[3][7]The Sabti traditionally consist ofnomadic pastoralists, coastal people, merchants andfarmers.[8]
