Al-Sabe' Biyar, also spelledSaba'a Biar, orSabaa Biyar (Arabic:السبع بيار) is a town in centralSyria, administratively part of theRif Dimashq Governorate, located northeast ofDamascus. It is situated in theSyrian Desert, in the Syrian part of theBadia region, along the highway connectingDumayr in the west to theal-Waleed border crossing withIraq, with no other localities in its vicinity. It is the administrative center and only locality in the al-Sabe' Biyarnahiyah ("subdistrict"). According to theSyria Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), al-Sabe' Biyar had a population of 395 in the 2004 census.[1]
In early May 2017, the town was reported to have beenretaken by the Syrian government forces, shortly after theISIL militants had pulled out of the area.[2]
