Stien den Hollander (Dutch pronunciation:[ˈstindɛnˈɦɔlɑndər]; born 8 November 2000), known professionally asS10 (Dutch pronunciation:[ɛsˈtin]), is a Dutch singer, rapper and songwriter. She began her musical career in 2016, and was signed to the Dutchhip hop record labelNoah's Ark [nl] in 2017.[3][4] In 2019, she released her debut studio albumSnowsniper, which went on to win anEdison Award.[1] Den Hollander represented the Netherlands in theEurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song "De diepte", the first Eurovision entry to be sung in theDutch language since2010.[1][5][6]
Den Hollander and hertwin brother Emiel (died June 2025[7]) were born on 8 November 2000 inHoorn,North Holland.[8][9] Since her birth, she has had little to no contact with her biological father.[10] She grew up in nearbyAbbekerk and later in Hoorn, where she attendedsecondary school.[10][11] After completing themavo curriculum in 2018, she has been studying at theHerman Brood Academie inUtrecht.[11][12]
Throughout her teenage years, Den Hollander suffered frommental health issues, including experiencingauditory hallucinations anddepression.[12] When she was 14 years old, she was admitted to apsychiatric hospital following asuicide attempt.[12]
In 2016, Den Hollanderself-released her firstmini-albumAntipsychotica, which she recorded using herApple headphones and uploaded to the online audio distribution platformSoundCloud.[3][4] Shortly after the release, she was discovered by rapperJiggy Djé, and signed with his record labelNoah's Ark [nl] in 2017.[4][13] One year later, she released a second mini-album, titledLithium.[14] In her songs, her struggle with mental illness is an important theme, with both mini-albums being named after types ofpsychiatric medication.[14][15]
In 2019, her debut albumSnowsniper was released.[1] The title is a reference to the Finnish sniperSimo Häyhä, which Den Hollander explained in the media as being "about the cold-heartedness, the solitude" and that "in essence, a soldier strives for peace, just as I strive for peace with myself".[16] The album was awarded anEdison Award in February 2020.[11] In November of the same year, she released her second studio albumVlinders (transl. Butterflies) which peaked at number 5 in theDutch Album Top 100.[17][18]
In 2021, Den Hollander scored a hit with the single "Adem je in", which she wrote together withJacqueline Govaert.[15][19] On 7 December 2021, it was announced that she had been selected by the Dutch broadcasterAVROTROS to represent the Netherlands in theEurovision Song Contest 2022.[1] Her entry "De diepte" was released on 3 March 2022 and is in Dutch, making it the Netherlands' first Eurovision entry to be sung in the language since2010. She followed it up with her third studio album,Ik besta voor altijd zolang jij aan mij denkt [nl] (transl. I exist forever as long as you think of me), on 28 October.[20] Her fourth album,Mijn haren ruiken naar vuur (transl. My hair smells like fire), was produced by formerBring Me the Horizon memberJordan Fish and released on 21 March 2025.[21]
