Somasunderam Udayar EthirmanasinghamMBE (born 25 July 1915, date of death unknown) was aCeylon Tamil businessman and politician who served as a Member of Parliament.
Ethirmanasingham was born on 25 July 1915.[1] He was from Paddiruppu in easternCeylon.[2] He was educated at St. Mary's College and Lee High School, Kalmunai.[2]
Ethirmanasingham had several jobs before becoming a successful businessman.[2]
Ethirmanasingham stood as anindependent candidate inPaddiruppu at the1947 parliamentary election. He won the election and enteredParliament.[3] He stood as theUnited National Party's candidate at the1952 parliamentary election but was defeated byS. M. Rasamanickam.[4] He re-gained the seat at the1956 parliamentary election, contesting as an independent.[5] However, he lost the seat again to Rasamanickam at theMarch 1960 parliamentary election.[6] He was also unsuccessful at theJuly 1960 and1965 parliamentary elections.[7][8]
