S-VT, orSequential Valve Timing,[1] is anautomobilevariable valve timing technology developed byMazda. S-VT varies the timing of theintakevalves by usinghydraulic pressure to rotate thecamshaft. S-VT was introduced in 1998 on theZL-VE engine and is used in theB-,Z-,MZR- andJ-families of engines.[citation needed]
