Ryan Norman (born March 19, 1998, inAurora, Ohio) is an American racing driver. Norman is a formermotocross rider and is currently competing in theMichelin Pilot Challenge, driving forBryan Herta Autosport and won the 2020 IMSA TCR Championship for the team. He formerly drove forAndretti Autosport inIndy Lights with multiple wins and podiums, and ran a race in theIndyCar Series in 2021 withDale Coyne Racing.

Career

Norman started in motocross when he obtained anAMA at the age of twelve. When turning sixteen Norman's father invited Ryan for a three-day course at theSkip Barber Racing School.[1] Norman joined the Skip Barber Winter Series for the first two rounds of the championship. In November 2015, Norman finished seventh in his debut race, atRoad Atlanta.

With driving coachFranklin Futrelle, Norman joined theSCCAFormula Enterprises class in 2015. In his debut season Norman won the second race atSebring International Raceway in the U.S. Majors Tour Southeastern Conference. After winning more races atRoad Atlanta andVirginia International Raceway, he secured a second place finish in the championship.[2]Comprent Motorsports driver Norman finished second at the prestigiousJune Sprints, behind multiple class championScott Rettich.[3] Norman again finished second to Rettich at the prestigiousSCCA National Championship Runoffs atDaytona International Speedway.[4] At the end of the season, Norman made his debut in aFormula AtlanticSwift 016.a. racing in theHistoric Sportscar Racing organisation. At Sebring, the racing driver won his class.[5]

For the 2016 season, Norman stepped up to theAtlantic Championship joiningK-Hill Motorsports coached by formerChampCar driverTõnis Kasemets. Norman won both the Pro Atlantic Championship and the SCCA National Runoffs.

Norman raced with theSVRA organisation at selected events. AtMid-Ohio Norman made his debut in a 2007DallaraIndy Lights racing car winning the race.[6]

For 2017, Norman stepped up to theIndy Lights Championship driving forAndretti Autosport. After driving with the team in 2017, 2018 and 2019, with multiple race wins and podiums, Norman had his first IndyCar test with Andretti atMid-Ohio Sports Car Course on June 25, 2019.[7]

In 2020, Norman signed withBryan Herta Autosport for a drive in theMichelin Pilot Challenge as a co-driver toGabby Chaves and they both grabbed the 2020 IMSA Pilot TCR Championship.[8]

2023 saw Norman pivot to theLamborghini Super Trofeo North America, driving forWTRAndretti in the Pro class.[9]
