As head coach:

Ryan Christopher Monteclaro is a Filipino basketball player and coach.

Monteclaro played for theAdamson Soaring Falcons in theUniversity Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) before winning championships when he called the shots as chief tactician or assistant coach for various teams in the Philippines, Singapore, Italy, and Vietnam.[1][2] He is the currenthead coach of theLady Falcons.

Playing eitherpoint orshooting guard, Monteclaro went toSan Beda University andUniversity of the East for his high school education.[3]

College / Amateur

Monteclaro played college basketball for theAdamson Soaring Falcons in theUAAP.[4][5] He was a member of theSoaring Falcons who were runners-up to the Ateneo Blue Eagles in a pre-season tournament that was decided in Game 3.[6]

Monteclaro,Alex Nuyles, andEric Camson also helpedAdamson earn the top 2 seed at the end of the 2-round elims before taking home the 2nd-runner trophy in theUAAP Season 87 (2011) men's basketball tournament underhead coachLeo Austria.[7] Coach Austria and Monteclaro reunited in the pro ranks when the latter was drafted by theSan Miguel Beermen in the 3rd round of the2013 PBA Draft.[8][9][10]

Before turning pro, Monteclaro played in thePBA Developmental League.[11]

Professional

The Saigon Aces picked up Monteclaro as their playmaker and would later ask him to coach this Vietnam team.[12][13]

Coaching career

Monteclaro has been coaching theAdamson Lady Falcons since 2023 in theUAAP.[14]

On November 30, 2024, Monteclaro and theLady Falcons won in overtime over the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the stepladder semis.[15][16] They later bagged bronze.[17]

Personal details

Monteclaro always makes it a point to have a special birthday celebration for his late father Resty by trying to keep a winning tradition every October 19.[18][19]
