ThePersian-language magazineRuznama-yi Millati (Persian:روزنامه ملتی; translated:The National Journal), was published between 1866 and 1870 inTehran.[1] It was published monthly in a total of 33 issues.[1] Together with the magazinesRuznama-i Dawlati and theRuznama-i ʿilmi,Ruznama-yi Millati used to be published under the superintendence ofIʿtizāduʾ s-Salṭana.[1] The upper part of each page shows the figure of amosque, which displays the national character of the magazine.[1]
Its content focuses primary on thebibliographies of famouspoets.[1] A stated goal of themagazine was to move away from thewritten language of the elite to thespoken language of the masses by adopting a style directed toward communication with the people (mardum).[2]
