TheRural Municipality of Mervin No. 499 (2016 population:1,256) is arural municipality (RM) in theCanadian province ofSaskatchewan withinCensus Division No. 17 andSARM Division No. 6.

History

The RM of Mervin No. 499 incorporated as a rural municipality on January 1, 1913.[2] It absorbed the RM of Greenfield No. 529.[3] The RM of Greenfield No. 529 was originally named the RM of Bright Sand No. 529 prior to February 2, 1926.[6]

In the2021 Census of Population conducted byStatistics Canada, the RM of Mervin No. 499 had a population of1,711 living in781 of its1,631 total private dwellings, a change of36.2% from its 2016 population of1,256. With a land area of 1,581.66 km2 (610.68 sq mi), it had a population density of1.1/km2 (2.8/sq mi) in 2021.[10]

In the2016 Census of Population, the RM of Mervin No. 499 recorded a population of1,256 living in583 of its1,607 total private dwellings, a2.6% change from its 2011 population of1,224. With a land area of 1,594.6 km2 (615.7 sq mi), it had a population density of0.8/km2 (2.0/sq mi) in 2016.[5]

Government

The RM of Mervin No. 499 is governed by an elected municipal council and an appointed administrator that meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month.[4] Thereeve of the RM isGerry Ritz while its administrator is L. Ryan Domotor.[4] The RM's office is located in Turtleford.[4]
