The RM of Brokenshell No. 68 incorporated as a rural municipality on December 13, 1909.^[2]

In the2021 Census of Population conducted byStatistics Canada, the RM of Brokenshell No. 68 had a population of307 living in117 of its127 total private dwellings, a change of-1.6% from its 2016 population of312. With a land area of 845.97 km² (326.63 sq mi), it had a population density of0.4/km² (0.9/sq mi) in 2021.^[8]

In the2016 Census of Population, the RM of Brokenshell No. 68 recorded a population of312 living in115 of its135 total private dwellings, a1.3% change from its 2011 population of308. With a land area of 850.01 km² (328.19 sq mi), it had a population density of0.4/km² (1.0/sq mi) in 2016.^[4]

Government

The RM of Brokenshell No. 68 is governed by an elected municipal council and an appointed administrator that meets on the first Thursday of every month.^[3] Thereeve of the RM is Garry Christopherson while its administrator is Jenna Smolinski.^[3] The RM's office is located in Weyburn.^[3] The RM's office was located inTrossachs until 1998 when permission was received to share offices with theRM of Weyburn No. 67, though technical operations remain in Trossachs.^[9]
