Rupchand Hansda is an Indian writer ofSantali language and civil servant fromWest Bengal. He wonSahitya Akademi Award for Santali Translation in 2018. In 2020, he received theSahitya Akademi Award for his collection of poemsGur Dak Kasa Dak.

Life

Hansda was a student ofKapgari College.[1] He works inIndian Railways.[1] He was the founding president of All India Santali Writers Association and served this post for 27 years.[1]

Hansda translatedShakti Chattopadhyay's poetryJete Pari Kintu Keno Jabo intoSantali titledSen Dareyak'an Menkhan Chedak. The book was published in 2016.[1] For this work he was awardedSahitya Akademi Translation Prize in 2018.[2][3] In 2020, he received theSahitya Akademi Award for his collection of poemsGur Dak Kasa Dak.[4][5]
