Ruffneck (band)

American house music group

Ruffneck is an Americanhouse musicgroup fromNew Jersey,United States, consisting ofrecord producers Dwayne Richardson, Derek Jenkins and Shaheer Williams. They placed threesingles on the U.S.Hot Dance Club Playchart, including "Everybody Be Somebody," which was based on asample from "Bostich" by theSwisssynthpop bandYello, and spent three weeks at#1 in 1995.[1] Their first twohits were released onMasters At Work's MAWlabel. Their biggest success in theUK Singles Chart occurred in 1995, when "Everybody Be Somebody" peaked at #13.[2]

The featuredvocalist on all their chart entries was Joanne "Yavahn" Thomas. Their tracks are officially credited toRuffneck featuring Yavahn. Thomas was one of the original members of thehouse musictrio,Jomanda. She died ofcolon cancer in October 2003.
