Rue Mondétour in June 2021

TheRue Mondétour (French pronunciation:[ʁymɔ̃detuʁ]) is a smallpedestrian street in the1st arrondissement of Paris.[1][2][3]

Origin

[edit]

This street owes perhaps its name to the lords of Mondetour, and particularly Claude Foucault, Lord of Mondetour who wasalderman of the city of Paris in 1525 under the provost master Jean Morin. Other historians assume that the name of this street is an alteration ofRue Maudestour orMauvais Détour ("Bad Detour").
