RUBIN-8, also known asRUBIN-AIS (Automatic Identification System), is a German space experiment package, built byOHB-System, which was launched by theIndian Space Research Organisation, aboard aPSLV rocket, on 28 April 2008.[1] Following launch, it remained bolted to the upper stage of the rocket inlow Earth orbit, where it is used to conduct experiments regarding the relay ofAIS data via theOrbcomm andIridiumcommunication satellite networks.[2]
