TheRoute nationale 11, orRN11, is a trunk road (nationale)[1] in SouthwestFrance betweenPoitiers andLa Rochelle. It is part ofEuropean route E611.

The road has been downgraded along part of its original route and re-numbered theRD611 between Poitiers andNiort.

Poitiers to Niort (0km to 68 Km) (As RD611)

The road begins on theRN10 south west of Poitiers branching west towards the coast. It passes theAbbey ofFontaine-le-Comte and then by-passes the village ofLusignan. The road enters theForet de Soudan and a junction with the A10 autoroute, afterwards passing through the village of Soudan.

At Saint-Maucent-l'École the road crosses the riverSèvre Niortaise. South ofLa Crèche the road crosses theA83 autoroute becoming a dual-carriageway. The road enters the town ofNiort.

Niort toLa Rochelle (68km to 138 km)

The road passes Southwest now designatedEuropean Route E601. AtMauze-sur-le-Mignon the road turns north west throughForet de Benon and over the marshes including theCanal de Marane and then reaches the port of La Rochelle on theAtlantic coast.

The road here has a junction with the RN137 which runs along the coast connectingNantes toRochefort, designated the European Route E3. The RD11 becomes the Boulevard Andre Sautel as it heads towards the city centre. The RN735 connects the RN11 to the airport and thePont-Viaduc, a bridge leading to theÎle de Ré.
