Rostocker Fußballclub von 1895 e. V.[1] is a Germanfootball club fromRostock,Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Founded in 1895, the club plays in theNOFV-Oberliga Nord in the fifth tier of theGerman football league system.
The club was founded in 1895.[2] The club has had several names; asTSG Bau Rostock it competed in theDDR-Liga, the second division ofEast German football, from 1973 to 1986. In 1978–79, it won its group, but came last in the play-off group for promotion to theDDR-Oberliga.[3][4]
Rostocker FC won theMecklenburg-Vorpommern Cup for the first time in 2023, defeatingFSV Einheit Ueckermünde [de] in the final.[5] This qualified the team for the first time to theDFB-Pokal, where they were drawn for the first round at home to newly promotedBundesliga side1. FC Heidenheim, with the game atFC Hansa Rostock'sOstseestadion;[6] they lost 8–0.[7]
