Rosonabant (INN;E-6776) is adrug acting as aCB1 receptorantagonist/inverse agonist that was under investigation byEsteve as anappetite suppressant for the treatment ofobesity.[1][2] Development of the drug forclinical use was apparently halted shortly after the related CB1 antagonistrimonabant was discontinued in November 2008,[when?] due to the reports of severepsychiatricadverse effects such asanxiety,depression, andsuicidal ideation associated with it and with similarly acting agents.[3][4][5]
