Rosachely Rivera Santana is a Puerto Rican politician and professor who serves as theSecretary of State of Puerto Rico. A member of theNew Progressive Party, Rivera previously served as the mayor of themunicipality ofGurabo.[1] Infederal politics, she is a member of theDemocratic Party.[2][3]
In May 2025, GovernorJenniffer González-Colón announced her intention to nominate Rivera to the position ofSecretary of State of Puerto Rico.[4] After the failed nominations ofVerónica Ferraiuoli andArthur Garffer,[5] the governor nominated Rivera to head theDepartment of State.[6]
On June 9, 2025, theSenate confirmed her nomination as Secretary of State alongsideLourdes Gómez Torres asSecretary of Justice andMaría Del Pilar Vélez Casanova asSecretary of Labor and Human Resources. Rivera’s nomination was confirmed by theHouse on June 30, 2025.[7][8] She was sworn in by Governor González-Colón on July 3, 2025.
