TheRomanian Sign Language (Romanian:Limba semnelor române,LSR)[3] is thesign language used by deaf people inRomania.[4] In Romania, the first organization dedicated to people with hearing impairments was the Romanian Society of the Deaf-Mute, established on 9 November 1919.[5] It was continued by the Romanian Association of the Deaf-Mute (1952), and theNational Association of the Deaf from Romania [ro] (Asociația Națională a Surzilor din România, ANSR, 1995).[6]
