TheRomania women's national rugby union team first played in 2007. Their widely recognized nickname is "The Acorns", as an offshoot of the men's team which are called "The Oaks".
The history of the Romanian team currently boils down to two participations in2007 and2008 in theEuropean Women's Trophy organized byFIRA. They won their first internationaltest match in 2007, inWatermael-Boitsfort, againstSerbia with a score of 65–0, which remains their greatest success today.
