TheDiocese of Timișoara (Latin:Dioecesis Timisoarensis;Hungarian:Temesvári Római Katolikus Püspökség) is aLatin diocese of theCatholic Church inRomania established on 5 June 1930 byPope Pius XI. The Diocese ofCenad, corresponding to approximately the same region, had been created in 1030 byStephen I of Hungary. It is based inTimișoara.
The diocese covers the RomanianBanat—the counties ofTimiș,Caraș-Severin,Arad and part ofMehedinți, of which 11.1% are Roman Catholic, with compact concentrations in theKrashovani areas nearReșița andSânnicolau Mare. A plurality of its adherents areHungarian, followed byBanat Swabians,Romanians,Banat Bulgarians,Croats,Slovaks andCzechs. It is subordinate to theBucharest Archdiocese. Since 2018, its bishop isJózsef-Csaba Pál.
