Roger Allen Repoz (born August 3, 1940) is anAmerican former professionalbaseballoutfielder, who played for nine seasons inMajor League Baseball (MLB) for theNew York Yankees,Kansas City Athletics andCalifornia Angels.[1] He also played five seasons in Japan’sNippon Professional Baseball (NPB), for theTaiheiyo Club Lions andYakult Swallows.[2]

Repoz was born inBellingham, Washington. He batted and threw left-handed, stood 6 feet 3 inches (1.91 m) tall and weighed 190 pounds (86 kg). After graduating fromBellingham High School andWestern Washington University, he was signed as an amateur free agent by the Yankees prior to the 1960 season.[3]

In 1971, Repoz became the first player in MLB history to compile anOPS of greater than .700 while putting up abatting average of under .200 and playing in a minimum of 100 games.[4]

He was traded from theAngels to theBaltimore Orioles forJerry DaVanon in a 10 June 1972 minor league transaction with the former assigned toRochester and the latter toSalt Lake City.[5]

Strong defensively, Repoz posted a career .991fielding percentage playing at all three outfield positions and first base.[1]
