"The Best of Rock za Hrvatsku" (Rock for Croatia) was a popular compilation album of anti-war and patriotic songs released in 1992 during theCroatian War of Independence. Some of the contributing artists had been popular across the then recently defunct federation ofYugoslavia, namelyPsihomodo pop,Jura Stublić,Parni valjak,Boa andAerodrom'sJura Pađen. These artists took a pro-Croatian stance as thebreakup of Yugoslavia and theYugoslav Wars began, while others such asAzra did not participate because they disbanded and because ofBranimir "Johnny" Štulić's publicly known frustrations with politics of the time.
The album also ushered in some new faces who would become the first generation of distinctly Croatian acts: the dance group ET, rock bandThompson and others.
