Robin Green (born July 31, 1945) is an American writer and producer. She was a writer and executive producer on the HBO seriesThe Sopranos and was the co-creator and executive producer of theCBS seriesBlue Bloods.[1][2] In the 1970s, Green was a writer forRolling Stone.

Biography

ARhode Island native,[3] Robin Green earned a Bachelor of Arts degree inAmerican literature fromPembroke College in Brown University, and aMaster of Fine Arts from theIowa Writers' Workshop atthe University of Iowa.[3] Green is Jewish.[4]

In 1968, Green worked asMarvel Comics' secretary-receptionist and "Gal Friday" for editor-in-chiefStan Lee.[5]

After moving on from Marvel she spent time as a magazine journalist in such publications asRolling Stone.[6]

Upon entering the television industry as a writer, Green wrote and produced for such series asThe Sopranos,Northern Exposure,A Year in the Life andAlmost Grown, and wrote theShowtime TV movieCritical Choices.[7][8]In 2010, Green worked as an executive consultant and writer on the second season of police dramaSouthland.

In August 2018Little Brown and Company published Green's memoir,The Only Girl: My Life and Times on the Masthead of Rolling Stone.[9]

Green is married toSopranos co-writerMitchell Burgess. Together, they created theCBSpolice proceduralBlue Bloods, which premiered in 2010.[10][11]

Green won anEmmy Award for her work on theCBS seriesNorthern Exposure. She was awardedEmmys for Best Writing of a Drama Series for episodes ofThe Sopranos in2001 and2003, as well as an Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series in2004. In addition, she won twoPeabody Awards and aGolden Globe Award for the series.
