Robert Kenneth Wilfort (born 20 April 1977)[citation needed] is aWelsh actor fromPorthcawl, who has made many appearances on British television and film. He is best known for his role as Jason West in BBC'sGavin & Stacey. His other television appearances have included roles in series such asWolf Hall andBridgerton.

Early life

Wilfort was born inPorthcawl, Wales and now lives in South England with his long-term partner.[citation needed]

Career

Wilfort's film roles have included Dr Simon Griffith inMike Leigh'sAll or Nothing (2002) andRita Skeeter's photographer inHarry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005). He also had a minor role inThe Libertine (2004) and co-starred inMan Up (2015).

Wilfort played the history teacher Tom Barkley in the E4 teen drama seriesSkins and Mr Fisher in BBC'sWhite Van Man. He also has a recurring role as Jason West in theBAFTA award-winning TV showGavin & Stacey, the role for which he is best known.[1][2][3][4]

In 2008, he appeared in his underwear in an advert for Barclaycard, where he descends an enormous water slide from his city office, all the way through the city and back to his home.[5] In addition, he featured in adverts forCrunchy Nut cereal and the London recycling campaign.

Since 2015, Wilfort has been the voice ofSamson (UK/US) in the CGI series ofThomas & Friends. Also in 2015 he appeared asGeorge Cavendish in the BBC'sadaptation ofHilary Mantel's novelWolf Hall[6] and inBridgerton.[7] In 2015 and 2016 he playedBob Cratchit in the BBC dramaDickensian.[citation needed]

In 2018, he played the role of Lord Liverpool in Mike Leigh'sPeterloo Theatre credits include plays at Chichester Festival Theatre, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Soho Theatre, Trafalgar Studios and Theatre Clwyd.[8]

In 2022, Wilfort portrayedSpike Milligan in the touring production ofSPIKE, written byIan Hislop andNick Newman.[9] Then in May 2023, he appeared in episodes of the BBC soap operaDoctors asRoss Hutchinson.[10]
