Robert Norgate,D.D. (died 1587) was an English priest and academic in the second half of the sixteenth century.[1][2]
Norgate was born inAylsham. He was educated atCorpus Christi College, Cambridge, graduatingB.A. in 1565;MA in 1568; andB.D. in 1575. He was appointedFellow in 1567; andMaster in 1573. A nephew ofMatthew Parker, thenArchbishop of Canterbury and a former Master of the College, Norgate was installed as Master whenThomas Aldrich was forced out for displayingPuritan sympathies.[3] He was electedVice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge for the year 1584.[4] He heldlivings atForncett andLittle Gransden. He died at the Master's Lodge on 2 November 1587.
