Robert Berkeley Payne is an ornithologist, professor and curator at theMuseum of Zoology and Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology,University of Michigan.
Payne had completed his B.S. at theUniversity of Michigan in 1960, and Ph.D. at theUniversity of California (Berkeley) in 1965. He was awarded an NSF postdoctoral fellowship by theUniversity of Cape Town. He was awarded the 2010Margaret Morse Nice Medal by theWilson Ornithological Society.[1]
Payne is an expert inbehavioral ecology andevolution,bird song andsystematics. He has done fieldwork inAfrica for 2 years,Western Australia for three years, and inMichigan for 20 years.
