Robert F. Waldrop (born December 1, 1971) is an American former professionalfootball player who was adefensive tackle in theNational Football League (NFL) andCanadian Football League (CFL). He playedcollege football for theArizona Wildcats, twice earning consensusAll-American honors, including aunanimous selection in 1993. Waldrop played professionally for the NFL'sKansas City Chiefs, and theMemphis Mad Dogs andToronto Argonauts of the CFL. He is a member of theCollege Football Hall of Fame.

Early life

Waldrop was born inAtlanta, Georgia.[1] He attendedHorizon High School inScottsdale, Arizona,[2] where he played for the Horizon Huskieshigh school football team.

College career

While attending the University of Arizona, Waldrop played for theArizona Wildcats football team from 1990 to 1993. He was recognized as a consensus first-team All-American in1992 and1993. He was also the recipient of theOutland Trophy as the best interior lineman in the country, theNagurski Award as the best defensive player, andUnited Press International'sLineman of the Year award. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2011.[3]

Professional career

The Kansas City Chiefs selected Waldrop in the fifth round of the1994 NFL draft.[4] He played for the Chiefs in three regular season games in1994.[5] He played for the CFL's Memphis Mad Dogs in1995, and for the CFL's Toronto Argonauts in1996 and1997. He gained his greatest recognition with the Argos, when he was a member of their back-to-backGrey Cup championship teams in1996 and1997, and was selected as a CFL All-Star in both years.
