Robert Coleman Thomas (born March 6, 1999), known professionally asRob49, is an American rapper fromNew Orleans,Louisiana.[1] He is best known for his guest appearance alongside21 Savage onTravis Scott's 2023 song "Topia Twins", which peaked within the top 20 of theBillboard Hot 100.[2].

Early life

Robert Thomas was born on March 6, 1999 in New Orleans. He grew up in theIberville Projects and spent most of his childhood in the4th and9th wards of New Orleans.[3][4][5] He was primarily raised by his mother, as his father was incarcerated for much of his childhood.[3][6] DuringHurricane Katrina, his family fled New Orleans and briefly lived inBaton Rouge andHouston before returning to New Orleans.[3][5][7] He joined theNational Guard after graduating from high school to get into college. He attendedSouthern University to studynursing for two semesters, before dropping out and pursuing music.[3][4]

Career

Thomas began his music career in 2020, after dropping out of Southern University.[3][7] He chose the stage name "Rob49" because he grew up in New Orleans'4th and9th wards.[7]

On March 11, 2020, he dropped his debut mixtape,4our the World.[8] On May 2, 2020, he dropped his second mixtape,Vulture.[9] On July 24, 2020, he released his third mixtape,Krazy Man.[10]

On June 11, 2021, he released his fourth mixtape,4GOD.[11] On June 25, 2021, he was featured onCurren$y's "Hit A Lick" alongside Fendi P on the albumWelcome To Jet Life Recordings 2.[12]

On March 18, 2022, he was featured on Tafia's "No Cappin" on his albumMention My Name.[13] On April 8, 2022, he released his fifth mixtape,Welcome to Vulture Island, featuring guest appearances fromBirdman,Lil Baby, Landstrip Chip,Lil Double 0,Doe Boy,Icewear Vezzo, andBabyface Ray.[14] On April 15, 2022, he was featured on the song "Like That" onFredo Bang's mixtapeTwo-Face Bang 2.[15] He was featured on 26AR's "Hottest In My City", which released on May 27, 2022.[16] On June 3, 2022, he was released the single "Hustler's Anthem V2" featuringKevin Gates andBirdman.[17] On August 12, 2022, he released the single "Yes, You Did" featuringReal Boston Richey.[18] On October 7, 2022, he was featured on Lebra Jolie's "Give U Some" on her self-titled debut EP.[19] On October 28, 2022, he released the single "Add It Up" featuringG Herbo.[20] He was featured on the single "2 Million Up" by Peezy alongsideJeezy andReal Boston Richey, released on November 18, 2022.[21] The single was nominated forVideo of the Year at theBET Awards 2023.[22] On November 25, 2022, he was featured onCurren$y's "Low" on his albumThe Drive in Theatre Part 2.[23] On December 16, 2022, he was featured onNoCap's "How It's Going" on his mixtapeThe Main Bird.[24] On December 23, 2022, he was featured on the single "Tired" bySexyy Red.[25]

He was featured on the song "Igloo", onFrench Montana andDJ Drama's albumCoke Boys 6, which released on January 6, 2023.[26] He joinedFuture's 2023One Big Party Tour as an opener.[27]Trippie Redd'sMansion Musik, which released on January 20, 2023, featured Thomas on the song "Armageddon".[28] On January 27, 2023, he was featured on the single "Line Em Up" by Huncho Bookie.[29] He was featured on the song "Same Side" onLil Durk's albumAlmost Healed, which released on May 26, 2023.[30] On June 9, 2023, he released his sixth album,4GOD II, featuring guest appearances from Birdman,Roddy Ricch, YTB Fatt, Icewear Vezzo,G Herbo,DaBaby,Trippie Redd, andNoCap. In June 2023, he was announced as a member of the 2023XXL Freshmen Class.[31] On July 28, 2023, he was featured onTravis Scott's studio albumUtopia, on the 11th track "Topia Twins", alongside21 Savage.[32] On August 11, 2023, he released the deluxe version of4GOD II, featuring additional guest features fromSkilla Baby, Tay B, andLil Durk.[33] On August 18, 2023, he was featured onLil Zay Osama's album4 The Trenches on the single "Better Run Better Duck".[34]

In January 2024, he released the single "Wassam Baby" withLil Wayne.[35] He was featured on the track "One of Them Ones" alongsideQuavo inMustard's July 2024 albumFaith of a Mustard Seed.[36]

In March 2025, he released "WTHelly" as a single, which quickly went viral on social media.[37] He is set to embark on his debut headlining tour, the "Let Me Fly Tour" in the fall of 2025.[38]

Personal life

On January 5, 2023, Thomas was injured in Miami, alongside 9 other people, in a mass shooting at a video shoot for theFrench Montana song "Igloo".[39][40]
