Ro-Tel (stylized asRo★Tel) is the brand name of a line ofcanned tomatoes and greenchili. There are different varieties of Ro-Tel in varying degrees of hotness and spiciness. The brand was acquired byConAgra Foods in 2000 fromInternational Home Foods. Ro-Tel gets its name from its inventor,Carl Roettele, who started a family canning company inElsa, Texas, in the 1940s.^[1] It is commonly used in makingchile con queso, particularly withVelveeta,^[2]^[3] and inKing Ranch chicken.
