TheRivetinidae are a family ofpraying mantids, based on thetype genusRivetina. As part of a major revision of mantid taxonomy,[1] this family contains many genera moved fromMiomantinae: tribe Rivetinini; some genera previously placed there have now been moved to the new familiesDeroplatyidae andChroicopteridae. The new placement of this taxon is in the superfamilyEremiaphiloidea (of group Cernomantodea) and infraorderSchizomantodea.
Genera in this family have been recorded from: southern Europe, Africa and Asia.[2] The species of this family present inItaly areGeomantis larvoides andRivetina baetica.[3]
