

Ris (formerly writtenRiis) is an affluent neighborhood[1] in the borough ofVestre Aker in theWest End ofOslo,Norway.
It has its origins in Ris farm, which is known from medieval times. Crofts under Ris farm includeTrosterud andSlemdal. In 1898 theHolmenkollen Line was opened, and went past Ris. The farming area was subsequently parcelled out and built up. The area is currently served byRis station.Ris Church, designed byCarl Berner, was inaugurated in 1932.[2]
