Ripley/ˈrɪpli/ is the unofficial name given to animpact crater on Pluto's moonCharon. It is located in Charon's northern hemisphere, within the highlands ofOz Terra.[1] It is named after the heroineEllen Ripley in the science-fiction/horror filmAlien.
The floor and terrain surrounding Ripley are dark. UnlikeMordor Macula andGallifrey Macula, however, the dark material within Ripley is not reddish-brown.[2]
