Right to move in a safe, accessible, equitable and sustainable manner
Theredevelopment ofstreets that includesidewalks withtrees,user-friendlyfurniture,public drinking water fountains,segregated, linear, and interconnectedbike lanes, and exclusive spaces forpublic transport is a concrete expression of theright to mobility inurban settings.

Theright to mobility is aright that guarantees all people the possibility tomovefreely,safely,accessibly, andsustainably, in order to meet theirbasic needs and exercise otherfundamental rights, such aswork,education,health,leisure, orsocial participation.[1][2][3][4][5]

This right includes all forms of movement under conditions of equity and quality, such aswalking,cycling, or access topublic transportation, and not only the use ofprivate motorized means of transport. It implies the obligation of theState to designinfrastructure and manage mobility systems that prioritize people over vehicles.[6][7]
